U3A peeks behind the scenes at head office of just for groups!
2nd June 2014
More than 40 members from Leighton & Linslade U3A had an extra-special stop on their Norfolk holiday recently.
Members of the Leighton & Linslade U3A (University of the Third Age) were in the county for their five-day coach touring holiday, arranged by just for groups!, enjoying a packed itinerary.
The group made the most of every moment on their tour, from start to finish, and their visit to the offices of just for groups!, based in the city of Norwich, was part of their homeward journey.
Members enjoyed a guided tour of our offices, which are in the Old Bakery, a landmark red brick building that once housed the Co-op bakery which supplied bread and cakes across Norfolk.
U3A members met staff at the Old Bakery, including the reservations team, hotel staff, the operations team, and those involved in sales, marketing and brochures.
And – appropriately for an old bakery – they also enjoyed cake and nibbles in the staff café as staff from across the departments entertained them.
Harold Burke, sales director at just for groups!, said: “It was a great day for all of us – it was a chance for colleagues who normally work out of public view at the Old Bakery to meet some of the folk who enjoy the holidays that we organise. And for U3A members, it was a great opportunity to meet so many people who help put together their holidays."
Michael Grant, who led the U3A group, commented: “Our members enjoyed the chance to peek behind the scenes with just for groups!.
“To have the chance to visit a head office such as this added an extra dimension to our holiday and gave our members the opportunity to see much more than the average holidaymaker would see!
“The U3A organisation covers a wide spectrum of interests, including the arts, science, computing, music, outings and theatre visits – so having a bonus visit like this really appeals to our members.
“We greatly appreciated the invitation to meet all the people who work so hard to make sure our holidays run smoothly!”
After their visit, the members of the Leighton & Linslade U3A continued their homeward journey, with a lunch stop and tour at Bury St Edmunds’ famous Greene King brewery.
During their tailor-made ‘Anglian Amble’ holiday, the U3A members stayed at the Nelson Hotel in Great Yarmouth, and visited other attractions such as Langham Glass, Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, Bure Valley Railway, the Norfolk Broads and Sandringham.
just for groups! has a wealth of experience in tailor-making holidays for groups and takes more than 500 clubs and associations away each year.
