A new escorted coach tour featuring the Manchester Ship Canal and Liverpool is proving a best-seller for Grand UK Holidays.
Called ‘The Manchester Ship Canal & Mersey Memories’, the holiday takes customers on a fascinating six-hour cruise along the 35 miles of the Manchester Ship Canal from Salford to Liverpool (pictured).
Customers will also enjoy a Merseyside Discovery Trail Tour, exploring Liverpool’s maritime past; take a boat trip on the river Mersey; and visit the Victorian seaside resort of Southport.
Sales director Harold Burke said: “We have added dozens of new escorted tours for 2014 and are delighted they’re proving so popular with our customers.
“This Manchester and Merseyside itinerary has proved to be a particular hit thanks to the chance to go on a memorable canal journey combining history and ever-changing scenery with a lively and informative commentary.
“Liverpool and Southport are always popular destinations for our customers so we try each year to refresh our offerings as we have so many repeat customers.
“Another new holiday for this region is our Coronation Street themed tour which visits Manchester, Blackpool, Liverpool and the famous soap opera set – and means we have another hit on our hands!”
Based at the Mercure Wigan Oak Hotel, ‘The Manchester Ship Canal & Mersey Memories’ offers departures from June to October and costs £339pp.
It is among more than 30 new tours in the UK and Ireland programme for 2014, which marks the 30th anniversary of the founding of Grand UK Holidays.
