Richmond rolls back the years
29th June 2012
The folks at the Hotel Richmond in Torquay are travelling back in time again.
Their ‘We’ll Meet Again’ 1940s-themed breaks have come to an end, so instead, the hotel has zoomed forward in time to the Swinging Sixties and Glam Seventies for its latest nostalgia trip.
Called ‘Torquay Rock’, the five-day coach tours recall the days of the teddy boys, mods and rockers, and the Beatles.
Also on the menu are those classic dinner party dishes: prawn cocktail and Black Forest gateau, as well as Babycham – complete with a Maraschino cherry.
For those feeling competitive, there will be games of Hi Di Hi prize bingo, a musical quiz and a knobbly knees contest.
There are also prizes for the Best Dressed Teddy Boy or Girl, a Pot Black pool trophy and a Bullies darts competition.
Among the excursions is a trip to Paignton, where the mods and rockers used to congregate on Paignton Green.
