Grand UK Holidays: trends for 2013

Over-55s specialist Grand UK Holidays has seen a rise in customers booking 2013 holidays as soon as the summer 2013 brochure was released in October.

Harold Burke, sales director, said: “It is pleasing to see so many of our core customers still booking early to ensure they get the dates and locations they want.”

For its 2013 summer brochure, the operator has introduced better quality hotels to its range, following on from the launch of ‘Grand UK Gold’ luxury coach tours in 2012.

Harold added: “The introduction of our new ‘Grand UK Gold’ tours in 2012, with more spacious and luxurious coach travel, demonstrated how our customers want pampering and to feel special on their holidays, so more of our hotels offer higher standards for 2013.”

The budget market is also catered for, with breaks starting at £99pp for four days, and magical mystery tours from just £149pp for four days.

Harold commented: “Our customers always demand good deals from their holidays, whether we offer luxury coach tours or trips at the value end of our range.

“Our customers are not tied into school term times or the work-based holiday restrictions, so they can take advantage of trips in the quieter times of the year, which are cheaper.

“Also, with many of our trips being hobby holidays or specialist interest breaks, it doesn’t really matter what the weather is like, so travelling out of season is not an issue.”

The operator has added several new themed breaks to cater for the rising demand for hobby holidays and special interest tours.

Two new UK holidays have a rock and pop themes – ‘Torquay Rock’ and ‘Blackpool Cabaret & the Singing City’.

Harold said: “Don’t forget – the teenagers of the 1960s are now the babyboomers of today, so they relish the chance to relive their rock-and-roll heyday!”

A new range with HF Holidays sees Grand UK offer a selection of themed self-drive breaks, from £329 per person.

Overseas, the country of Montenegro makes its first appearance for Grand UK in the ‘Dubrovnik Riviera & A Taste of Montenegro’ tour.
