Grand UK Holidays sees boost for Mystery Christmas tours
24th October 2008
Over-55s specialist Grand UK Holidays is seeing increasing numbers of customers booking its five-day ‘Christmas Mystery Tour’, which costs just £289*.
Sales director Harold Burke said: “A lot of people have booked the Christmas Mystery tour, indicating to us that they do not mind where they go over the Christmas period - as long as they get a bargain.”
The coach holiday operator has also increased its capacity for single travellers over the festive period because of rising demand, and has seen sales rise as a result.
“We offer plenty of hotels with lots of single rooms and highlight them in the brochure. Many of our customers are widowed or divorced, so travelling with like-minded people over Christmas is a boon for them – and we don’t charge single supplements on our mainland UK holidays,” added Burke.
“Our clients enjoy travelling on coach tours with folks like themselves, especially at Christmas when they can have a tipple and let someone else drive!”
Grand UK Holidays features 57 UK destinations for its 2008 Christmas programme, from the Isle of Wight up to the Scottish Highlands, plus four on the Continent.
Burke added: “We had a bumper Christmas period last year with more than 80 coaches on the move, and we’re looking to take even more customers away this year.
“Our full-board Christmas breaks offer great value for money as all travel and excursions are included, plus entertainment. Our lead-in prices are in many cases the same as last year.”
Grand UK Holidays is repeating its ‘festive combo’ which means customers in selected hotels over Christmas and New Year get three nights’ half-board accommodation for just £10 per night.
