Grand UK Holidays adds ocean and river cruises for summer 2011
7th January 2011
Over-55s specialist Grand UK Holidays has introduced a new cruise ship, Athena - the flagship of Classic International Cruises for summer 2011.
Athena (pictured) joins the ever-popular Marco Polo – part of Cruise & Maritime Voyages - in the 2011 brochure.
Grand UK is also offering three new river cruises to cater for growing demand.
The operator is seeing bookings increase each year for its ocean and river cruises, because its target audience of over-55s still has the time, money and inclination to take such holidays.
Grand UK offers 16 itineraries onboard Marco Polo, ranging from cruises around the British Isles, to Mediterranean voyages and the Canary Islands, and the fjords and Baltics.
The new 14-night Athena voyage takes in the Azores, Madeira and the Med, and costs from £1,249pp.
The three new river cruises take in the sights of Germany, Portugal and France.
‘The German National Flower Show’ river cruise costs from £699 for eight days and offers the chance to enjoy the country’s famous floral displays.
‘Cruising the River Douro’ is also eight days long, and cost from £999. It includes Porto, Salamanca and Braga, as well as port wine tasting and a flamenco evening.
Finally, ‘Rivers & Vineyards of Bordeaux’ takes customers through some of the finest wine-growing regions of the world. It lasts five days and costs from £699.
