Grand UK boosts quality for 2013

Over-55s specialist Grand UK Holidays has reviewed and enhanced its range for 2013, introducing better quality hotels and adding 40+ new options.

The upgraded 2013 programme ranges from escorted coach tours in the UK and Europe to river and ocean cruises, as well as rail and self-drive breaks.

Harold Burke, sales director, said: “Our customers always demand good value from their holidays without compromising on comfort, so we’ve added more hotels in the three- and four-star bracket which will appeal to mature travellers.

“The introduction of our new ‘Grand UK Gold’ tours in 2012, with more spacious and luxurious coach travel, demonstrated how our customers want pampering and to feel special on their holidays, so more of our hotels offer higher standards for 2013.

“We’ve specialised for this market for almost 30 years so we know their requirements intimately – and having a fresh range of new choices each year means we keep our loyal customers contented, and attract new ones too.”

New UK holidays include a ‘Let’s Go Racing’ break to Great Yarmouth (£329pp for five days) and ‘Adam’s Farm and TV Footsteps’, visiting the farm featured in Countryfile, as well as sites associated with Cranford and Lark Rise to Candleford (£339pp for five days).

The hugely popular ‘Lark Rise to Downton Abbey’ holiday appears again (from £349pp for five days), demonstrating the growing demand for trips to see sites associated with TV serials.

Meanwhile, a new range with HF Holidays sees Grand UK offer a selection of themed self-drive breaks, from £329 per person.

Based in country hotels across the UK, the hobby holidays include dancing, photography, painting, theatre trips, gardens and ‘discovery’ tours exploring scenic regions.

The operator also features its own range of activity coach tours, offering cards, bingo, bowling, dancing and rambling.

New European tours added for 2013 include ‘Dubrovnik Riviera & A Taste of Montenegro’ (from £499pp for eight days); ‘Valkenburg and Highlights of Three Countries’ (£549pp for eight days); and ‘Alpine Panoramas’ (£649pp for eight days).

‘Around the World in 80 Gardens’ offers an escorted holiday to Hamburg’s 2013 International Garden Show which will showcase gardens and landscapes within seven ‘worlds’ of experience (from £399 for six days).

There is a new river cruise, ‘A Taste of the Rhine & Moselle’ (from £489pp, six days); and new tours to visit National Trust country houses and gardens.

Making a welcome return are long-stay holidays for 19, 26 and 33 days (from £399pp); and the perennially popular Annual Reunion (£179pp, five days).

Short breaks start from £99pp for four days, and there are magical mystery tours from just £149pp for four days.
