Grand UK adds quartet of new short breaks
5th February 2014
Grand UK Holidays has unveiled four new coach trips for summer 2014, to add to its range of short breaks based on hobbies and special interests.
The over-55s specialist anticipates further growth in its short breaks programme this year, as many of its customers like to take several trips with the operator annually.
Commemorating the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings, ‘Bournemouth & D-Day’ is a new four-night half-board trip to see the command post at Southwick House, the D-Day Museum in Portsmouth, and other associated sites in Weymouth and Portland (£329pp).
Heading back much further in time is ‘Medieval Magic’, which boasts a medieval banquet in Ruthin Castle near Chester (pictured). This new three-night half-board holiday is based at the Beaufort Park Hotel in Mold (£229pp).
Green-fingered holidaymakers are catered for with the new ‘RHS Malvern Gardening Show & Springtime at Arley’ (four nights, £329pp), while ‘Scenic Snowdonia & Dublin Popover’ packs a trip to the Irish capital and Snowdonia into a weekend break (from £199pp for three nights).
These four new UK short breaks join the perennial favourites on offer from Grand UK Holidays, such as the ‘Battle of Britain’ holiday – based in Lincolnshire, the home of the Royal Air Force – and Line Dancing, Bingo Breaks, Rambling and Antiques & Collectables.
Sales director Harold Burke said: “We are seeing growth in shorter midweek and weekend UK breaks, as opposed to the traditional eight days, partly due to the fact that our customers take several trips a year with us.
“Themed breaks are flourishing as people increasingly want to enjoy something connected with their interests and hobbies.
“Our new themed breaks cater for a wide range of interests, from wartime anniversary commemorations to gardening and medieval banqueting!”
