Get set and go - after the Olympics
31st August 2012
Over-55s specialist Grand UK Holidays is seeing its customers take advantage of the late booking trend, especially in the forthcoming autumn season.
The operator has seen more of its customers booking closer to departure, reflecting the wider industry trend, which has been particularly marked this summer because of the Olympics and Paralympic events.
“Now the children are going back to school, many resorts are much quieter and cheaper – and therefore much more popular with our clientele,” said Harold Burke, sales director.
“Many potential holidaymakers stayed at home because of the Olympic events, but now there is a surge in interest in short breaks in the shoulder season.”
The operator’s 2012-13 brochure features a range of autumn coach tours across the UK, starting from £189pp for four days on a half-board basis.
And for clients looking towards winter getaways, there are new Festive House Parties and other seasonal offerings, such as Turkey & Tinsel and Christmas market breaks.
Grand UK Holidays has added 15 new themed short breaks in its 2012-13 brochure to cater for demand for hobby holidays and special interest trips.
Harold commented: “More and more of our customers want to treat themselves to a break away to indulge in a hobby.
“They’re not really worried about the weather, so we’ve added plenty of fresh choices to our winter brochure.”
Highlights include a new ‘Torquay Rock’ nostalgia holiday, which has a ‘back to the 60s theme’, complete with Babycham, Maraschino cherries, Black Forest gateau and prawn cocktails!
It costs from £229pp for five days.
