Extra holidays added to cater for demand

Escorted tours specialist Grand UK Holidays has added a further 19 new holidays for August, autumn and Christmas to cater for demand and stimulate the market.

The extra coach trips to popular destinations are featured on the ‘New Offers’ section of the operator’s website, www.grandukholidays.com.

Sales director Harold Burke said: “We have seen demand for certain destinations and holiday types, as well as some agents seeing a booking trend towards late offers as the market reacts to stimulation.   

“As a result we’ve started to increase the number of ‘non-brochured’ tours we arrange and also provide agents with ‘exclusive’ late availability deals which are not published on our website or to the general consumer market.  

“Despite the general pessimism about the economy, we are still seeing our customers taking several trips a year and more consumers are reacting to last-minute promotions.”

Burke said the uptake from the new tours was exceptional, with a series of new holidays for August selling out within days. 

A ‘Christmas Supersaver’ offer based in Manchester, included in this range of new tours, filled four coaches within three days of going on sale, he added.

Sample new tours:

The new tours include the Heart of Wales Victorian Special, which offers customers the chance to enjoy Llandrindod Wells’ annual Victorian Festival.

The holiday also includes excursions to the Cambrian Mountains and Elan Valley.

Departing on 22nd August, it is based in the Glen Usk Hotel, Llandrindod Wells, and costs £239pp for five days by coach.

New tours  also include additional coaches for the special five-day Christmas Supersaver, which offers full-board accommodation, entertainment, two half-day excursions and the services of the Grand UK tour manager for only £259pp.

Another addition is the Octoberfest at Warner Cricket St Thomas, a five-day coach holiday from £339pp.

It offers the chance to enjoy the hotel’s very own Octoberfest, with German-style food and entertainment, plus two sightseeing excursions, departing on 17th October and is one of three Warner new tours to be added. 

Other new tours visit Blackpool, the Lake District, Peak District and Ireland, while several cater for the singles market.
