Essential viewing: Grand UK adds ‘TV Special’ to its schedules
8th May 2014
From Coronation Street to Last of the Summer Wine and Bronte Country, the newest escorted tour from Grand UK Holidays is a treat for TV and film fans.
The over-55s specialist has added the ‘TV Special’ tour to its schedules to cater for demand for television-themed breaks.
The itinerary takes in Manchester and ‘Coronation Street – The Tour’ – which is only open for a limited period – as well as the Peak District and Yorkshire Dales national parks.
The holiday includes Holmfirth – famous for being home to Last of the Summer Wine – and Haworth, which is internationally known for its connection with the Bronte sisters.
Harold Burke, sales director, said: “We added a new escorted tour to our range when the ‘Corrie cobbles’ set was opened and that proved a huge hit with our customers – so it seemed natural to create another TV-themed holiday and expand the range of shows and sites that people can visit.
“The Peak District has proved popular with film-makers for decades, and can be seen in films and programmes such as Pride & Prejudice, Jane Eyre, The Dambusters and Peak Practice.
“Meanwhile, the Yorkshire Dales was the location for films such as The Woman in Black, Wuthering Heights, Calendar Girls and Robin Hood Prince of Thieves.”
The holiday, which departs on 8 September, also has lots of single rooms available to cater for solo travellers.
It is based at the four-star Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford, and costs £319pp, including coach travel and half-board accommodation.
This ‘TV Special’ is among more than 30 new tours in the UK and Ireland programme for 2014, which marks the 30th anniversary of the founding of Grand UK Holidays.
