Brighten up autumn with Lakes and Lights
6th May 2013
Over-55s specialist Grand UK Holidays has added a new holiday to its range, which takes in some of the best of the North West.
Based in our own property – County Hotel, Kendal – the ‘Lakes and Lights’ holiday takes in the sights of the Lake District National Park as well as the world-famous Blackpool Illuminations.
Other destinations on the escorted touring holiday include the coastal gem of Lytham St Annes and – on the five-day tours only – the historic market town of Kirkby Lonsdale.
Accommodation is on a half-board basis at the County Hotel, which is close to Kendal town centre, and boasts a sprung dance floor.
The departure dates are 23 September (five days, £279pp); 11 October (four days, £189pp) and 21 October (five days, £239pp).
Sales director Harold Burke said: “Our autumn-winter 2013-14 brochure is out very soon but we thought we would get this autumn holiday on sale as soon as possible because of demand for these destinations.
“The Lake District and Blackpool are perennial favourites for our customers – so it gives us the best of both worlds to have an itinerary combining them.”
He added: “Kendal is often seen as the southern gateway to the Lake District and it makes an ideal base for exploring this scenic region.
“The town itself is home to a fine selection of shopping arcades, two castles, two museums, and a host of historical buildings and bridges.
“Meanwhile, the bustling resort of Blackpool is an ever-popular choice and has just been named Britain’s most popular seaside resort.
“The unique Blackpool Illuminations offer miles of breath-taking displays, using more than one million bulbs.”
